George Road Community Church

“Working in unity to bring a spirit of freedom, love and togetherness, following the example of Jesus Christ, to the local community”

About Us

We are eager to help the community to visit and to be involved in our activities. We are wheelchair friendly.

Community Activities

We provide a warm, welcoming venue for our community to enjoy our groups and activities throughout the year. We enjoy chatting, speaking, and listening, and provide Bible based messages for these times.

Our Ethos

We follow Bible themes and passages each Sunday. We aim to stay really close to ancient Christian principle, and to this end we have created our George Road Community Church ethos statement.

Our History

Our foundation stone was laid on the 17th September 1883, and the original building was a Methodist Church.

The building was purchased by King’s Community Church in February 1990. On the 25th July 2012 the Church became automonous under the umberella of the Baptist Church. We have had a recent extension built which added a second hall and interior toilets to our main sanctuary.

We have a beautiful garden which is maintained throughout the year and a small memorial garen surrounding it. Historicaly, garden management was left to a goat named Amy, who ate her way to keeping the gardens and grass nicely trimmed! However, we no longer have the goat but we do have a dedicated gardener who works hard on the upkeep of the garden, and the garden has now won a number of awards.

We follow the example of Jesus Christ to bring Love, Freedom, and Togetherness to the local community.

Providing a warm welcoming venue for the Community, offering a diversity of established groups and activities throughout the year.

Our Mission & Vision

We are passionate about seeing the community coming through the doors of George Road Community Church.

Located at the heart of Warley, the Church has continued to serve and provide a warm welcoming venue for the Community and beyond, offering a diversity of established groups and activities.

We also used this opportunity to build a Community Hall to increase growth and development of our community projects. This gives us the privilege of being able to provide various programmes and clubs from young people to elderly people and from knit and chats to indoor football tournaments. We are passionate about seeing the community coming through the doors of George Road Community Church.

The Church is situated on a main road with popular bus routes and we have a small car park with extra parking space on the roadside. There are three schools in the area, ranging from infants to high school and a range of different public services such as a library, doctor’s surgery, pharmacy, parks and woodlands.

Worship and Church Life

Our Sunday morning services may follow a structure but are relatively informal. A 10.30 start gives people the chance to have a relaxed start to the day and we aim to finish at 12, just in time for lunch! We have an average of 40 people attend each week, a number of whom serve before, during and after the service to help things run smoothly. We always pray to invite the Holy Spirit.
